To set up HOT IPTV Player, open the app and note the MAC address on its first screen. Then go to hotplayer.app/upload on your phone or computer, enter that MAC address, paste your M3U link and save. Back in the app, press Refresh and your playlist loads. It takes about five minutes.
What You Need
- The HOT IPTV Player app on your device. It is available for Android, Fire TV, Samsung and LG TVs, iOS, macOS, Windows and Roku.
- Your M3U playlist link or Xtream Codes login from your IPTV provider.
- A phone or computer to open the upload page.
Good to know
HOT IPTV Player is only a media player. It does not come with any channels, so it shows nothing until you add a playlist.
Find your MAC address in the app
Open HOT IPTV Player. The first screen says that your MAC address is not linked to a playlist yet, and shows your MAC address next to “Your MAC”. Write it down exactly, including the colons.
Add your playlist on the upload page
On your phone or computer, open this page: hotplayer.app/upload
- Under “Upload your list”, type the MAC address from the app into “Your MAC address”.
- Click the yellow button. On the English version of the site it is labelled “Following”, which means Next.
- Leave “Source” on Link and paste your M3U link into the field next to it. The site labels this field “Lien”.
- Type a name under “Playlist name”. Any name works, for example Smootv.
- Click the yellow button labelled “To safeguard”. That is the site’s wording for Save.

Reload the app
Go back to your TV or device and press Refresh, or close and reopen the app. After a few seconds the home screen shows your playlist name with the status Active, and the Live TV, Movies, Series and Radios tiles appear.
That is it. Your playlist is loaded and you can start watching.
If Something Does Not Work
The app still says the MAC address is not associated with any playlist
Check that the MAC address on the upload page matches the one in the app letter for letter, including the colons. Then press Refresh in the app.
The playlist is saved but no channels appear
Most of the time the M3U link was not copied completely. Copy the full link again, from http to the last character, and save it once more. Also check that your subscription or trial is still active.
The picture buffers or freezes
Use a network cable or 5 GHz Wi-Fi. You need about 25 Mbps for HD and 50 Mbps for 4K. Restarting your router and the app often helps as well.
The app says it has expired
HOT IPTV Player includes a 7-day trial of the app itself. After that the app needs its own activation, which is separate from your IPTV subscription.
Questions About HOT IPTV Player
Is HOT IPTV Player free?
The app comes with a 7-day trial. After that it needs a yearly activation. We activate it for €8 a year, and it is included for free with a 12-month Smootv plan.
Does HOT IPTV Player come with channels?
No. It is a media player only. You add your own playlist from an IPTV provider.
Can I use Xtream Codes instead of an M3U link?
Yes. The upload page says it supports both M3U lists and Xtream Codes servers.
How do I change or remove my playlist?
On the same upload page, use “Delete your list” with your MAC address. Then add the new playlist the same way as in step 2.
