What matters is inside your house: connect the TV device with a network cable to the modem where you can, use the 5 GHz band where you cannot, switch off the modem's family or safety filter if streams refuse to load, and keep the modem's own TV decoder ports for the decoder. The provider-specific settings are below.<\/p><\/div>\n<nav class=\"sg-toc\"><span class=\"sg-label\">In this article<\/span><ol><li><a href=\"#algemeen\">What applies to every modem<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#per\">Per provider: where the settings are<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#snelheid\">How much speed you actually need<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#faq\">Questions about IPTV and Dutch modems<\/a><\/li><\/ol><\/nav>\n<h2 id=\"algemeen\">What applies to every modem<\/h2><ul class=\"sg-check\"><li>Cable beats Wi-Fi. One network cable from the modem to the TV device removes the most common cause of evening buffering. Any port marked LAN or with a number works; avoid ports labelled TV or IPTV, those are reserved for the provider's own decoder on some models.<\/li><li>No cable? Use 5 GHz. Most modems broadcast two networks or one combined name; connect the TV device to the 5 GHz one, or split the bands in the modem settings so you can choose. 2.4 GHz reaches further but is slow and shared with every neighbour.<\/li><li>Switch off the safety filter for the TV device. Family, kids or safe-browsing filters on the modem block unknown domains, and streaming servers are unknown to them. Streams that never start, or an empty channel list on Wi-Fi but not on mobile data, is this filter.<\/li><li>Leave the DNS alone unless it is already changed. A third-party ad-blocking DNS on the modem sometimes blocks streaming domains. If you set one, exclude the TV device or use the provider's default.<\/li><li>Restart the modem once a month, and always before you conclude that something else is broken.<\/li><\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"per\">Per provider: where the settings are<\/h2><div class=\"sg-table sg-wide\"><table><thead><tr><th>Provider<\/th><th>Modem settings page<\/th><th>What to change for IPTV<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>KPN (Experia Box, Box 12\/14)<\/td><td>192.168.2.254 in the browser, or the KPN app<\/td><td>Use ports 1 to 3 for your TV device; ports 4 or the ones marked TV are for the KPN decoder. Split 2.4 and 5 GHz under Wi-Fi. Veilig Internet: turn off for the TV device, or entirely.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Ziggo (Connectbox, SmartWifi)<\/td><td>192.168.178.1, or Mijn Ziggo<\/td><td>Any LAN port. Switch SmartWifi band steering off if the TV keeps landing on 2.4 GHz, and give the 5 GHz network its own name. Ziggo Safe Online: off for the TV device.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Odido (formerly T-Mobile; Zyxel or Sagemcom)<\/td><td>192.168.1.1<\/td><td>Any LAN port except the one labelled TV on fibre modems. Split the bands under Wireless. No filter by default; check Parental Control if streams are blocked.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Delta, Caiway, Freedom, Youfone<\/td><td>Address on the sticker under the modem<\/td><td>Same rules: LAN port, 5 GHz, filter off. On fibre with a separate fibre box, connect the TV device to the router, not the fibre box.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/div><div class=\"sg-note\"><p><strong>Your own router behind the modem<\/strong><\/p><p>If you use a mesh system or your own router, put the modem in bridge mode (KPN and Ziggo both allow it) so there is one network instead of two. Two routers in a row cause the most confusing IPTV problems: it works on one device and not on another.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2 id=\"snelheid\">How much speed you actually need<\/h2><p>About 25 Mbps per HD stream and about 50 Mbps for 4K, measured at the TV device, not at the modem. Every Dutch fibre or cable subscription has that many times over; what eats it is the path inside the house. Run a speed test on the TV device itself, or on a phone standing next to it, at nine in the evening. Dutch providers do not block it; the only blocking you will meet is your own modem's safety filter, and that you switch off yourself.<\/p><\/details><details><summary><h3>Do I need to open ports or set up port forwarding?<\/h3><\/summary><p>No. IPTV is outgoing traffic, like a website.
